#Chapter4

I stifled my chuckle at the nickname of Miss Sheila that Heath had used for her. His handwriting was incredibly neat.

I stopped smiling and looked at him and found him already staring at me with emotionless eyes. Cold and distant, that was how he seemed. I swirled my head away from him and swore that I wouldn't look at him again.

The class went on, and Heath sitting beside me didn't really help the anxiety I was having.

Why did he take the seat beside me when there were literally eight seats free in the class? What was his problem? I mean he could be polite for once and not glare at me. Even his staring looked as glaring.

After what felt like an eternity the lecture ended and I hurried out of the class. I had physics next, so I dashed to the room and took a seat and in a few minutes the class got crowded and then it began.

At lunch I sat outside instead of in the cafeteria. The weather was pleasant and there weren't many people out except the ones who were leaving school for lunch.

I took a seat at one of the benches and took out my favorite homemade sandwiches made by mom, and wasted no time in eating them. Thankfully, she had put the lunchbox in my bag. She knew I always forget to pick it up on my way to school.

Picking the sandwich up, I started eating while reading the book 'How to kill a mockingbird.' I had just picked it up from the library before coming out here. The book seemed interesting from the title.

"Fuck you!" I heard someone say. I stopped eating and looked around and found Heath glaring at Jason.

"Right," Jason replied and pushed Heath strongly.

I gulped my bite and put away the rest of the sandwich and the book into my bag.

"Bastard," Heath said and punched Jason so hard that he stumbled back and hit a nearby tree.

I stood up immediately, and stared at the two of them.

"You think you can get away after what you did to my friend, but you're so wrong," with those words Jason hit Heath hard in the face and smirked.

But Heath pushed him onto the ground and started punching him, making blood come out of Jason's nose.

Heath had a deadly look on his stoic face whereas Jason's face held an expression of complete annoyance.

Heath punched Jason again. He looked ruthless. Punch after punch he kept injuring him. The sound of Jason's painful grunts and Heath's loud hits broke my state and I ran up to them.

"Stop," I said as I stood beside both of them.

Heath spared me a glance as he looked at me. His face was a little red from anger and his eyes were glistening with darkness. He looked like he was still not done with Jason. I could feel the hot anger emitting out of him penetrating me easily.

"Stay away from this," he said and I worriedly looked down at Jason and then at Heath who was boring holes in my face.

"You're hurting him," I said and he rolled his eyes but moved away from Jason.

"You don't know anything," Heath walked away without looking back at either of us.

I saw Jason helplessly sitting on the ground, my heart went out for him. He was hissing in pain every now and then and blood was dripping from his nose in slow thick drops.

My empathetic feet made me crouch down beside him to his level. Taking tissue from my back pocket I gave it to him. He put it against his nose and winced.

"Are you okay?" I asked in a low tone.

"I'm fine. Fuck I hate that guy," Giving me a tiny smile, he tried to get up but failed miserably. I put his arm around my neck and helped him stand up.

Taking him to the nearest bench I assisted him in sitting down. He grimaced in pain with every little move he made. I told him that I would get a first-aid kit when he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back. Peeking up at me he muttered "don't trouble yourself. My friends are coming."

"Are you gonna report him?" I asked quietly.

"No, I'll deal with him in his way," I frowned but didn't say anything. I barely knew Jason, and Heath too.

"Jay, you okay?" A guy came and stood in front of Jason as he watched his face in shock.

"I'm fine. Let's get out of here," Jason said and stood up.

"Thanks for stepping in," Jason said and I nodded my head as I looked away from him.

The guy and Jason walked out of the little garden and towards the parking lot.

I exhaled a sigh of relief and leaned against the table. Suddenly I felt an unmoving gaze on the side of my face. I turned and looked around only to find Heath staring at me. He was standing beside the entrance door of the school building.

My heart hammered in my delicate chest only by looking at him. He had watched the scene. The whole scene. This wasn't gonna end well.

I gulped hard and slowly walked to my table. I peeked a glance at me and he was looking at me. His gaze followed me and itched my skin like a sting from a venomous bee. I didn't dare to look back at him.

I picked up my book and started reading it to distract myself but I could hardly focus on a word.
